Day 2 - February 12th 2016
How'd Ya Like Them Sock Apples???
Hello Everyone - today we'd like to talk to you about socks - well, not really just socks but about all sorts of things you can re-use instead of having to buy things like kitchen roll, special cloths and wipes.
When we buy kitchen roll from the shops or wipes that we just use once and throw in the bin - we are wasting the planet's natural resources. This is bad because we use up trees and energy to make new things and we all need trees to live and breathe. - Not just us, animals and plants too.
We also have to try to save energy and buying new things when we don't need them wastes lots of energy because they have to be made and travel to the shops. Erin also wants to say that it wastes lots of money too!
SOCKS are one of our favourite reusable things. (Erin says, also pants!!!) Socks are always going missing, so you are left with one, or they get holes in them - but there are lots of useful things you can do with them - so don't throw them away.
Clean our faces!
Use them as dusters and cloths (socks are great because you can put your hand inside and grab dirt, them turn them round / tuck them up and keep using)
Clean our bottoms (Erin's suggestion)
SOCK APPLES!!! - get a clean sock and after you've washed your apple, put it inside so you can carry it in a bag or in your pocket without it getting dirty again!!!
There are lots of other things you can do with socks and other old bits of fabric to avoid having to buy kitchen roll. We really have never had it in the house since Erin was born and we manage ok, even though she's the messiest, muckiest, dirtiest, stinkiest, little sister ever!!!
If we can do it, maybe you could give it a go too? How about for Lent? Or even a week?
Thanks for reading our blog....have a great weekend.
Amelie and Erin xxxx

I think it is a very good idea to use what we already have rather than using things just once. We have to save the environment by recycling whatever we can. Thank you Amelie and Erin to let us share your experience. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteHI - It's Amelie here, thank you very much for your comment - we are hoping to do "switch it off" today about saving energy. It's good to be working with others to make a nicer world. :)
